About This Tour

This is a private transfer to and from the British Museum. A MisterFare driver collects you from your London address, sets you down close to the museum on Great Russell Street, and comes back at an agreed time to take you home or to your next stop.

Entry to the museum's permanent collection is free. The museum advises all visitors to book a free timed entry slot on its website before they come. It opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with later opening on Fridays until 20:30, and is closed from 24 to 26 December.

The permanent galleries include the Rosetta Stone, sculptures from the Parthenon, Assyrian reliefs and the Egyptian mummies. The covered Great Court at the centre of the building is a good place to start and to arrange a meeting point.

The museum runs its own tours. Volunteer-led eye-opener tours of individual galleries are free and last about 30 to 40 minutes. Paid out-of-hours tours before opening are also offered. From 10 September 2026 to 11 July 2027 the museum is showing the Bayeux Tapestry in a separately ticketed exhibition, and early dates sold out, so book well ahead if you want to see it.

The driver is not a guide.
