About This Tour

This trip pairs a visit to the Tower of London with a boat ride on the Thames, and uses a private car for the journeys at each end. A MisterFare driver drops you near the Tower, you make your own visit and boat trip, and the driver meets you at the pier where you get off.

The Tower of London is run by Historic Royal Palaces. Inside are the Crown Jewels, the White Tower and the Yeoman Warders, who give their own talks during the day. Many visitors spend around three hours there. Tickets are sold by Historic Royal Palaces online or on the day.

Tower Millennium Pier is a short walk from the Tower's exit along the river. Two types of service leave from there. City Cruises runs sightseeing boats with commentary to Westminster, about 40 minutes, and to Greenwich, about 30 minutes. Uber Boat by Thames Clippers runs a faster river bus that accepts contactless and Oyster pay as you go. Both sell their own tickets.

Tell us which pier you plan to finish at when you book, and the driver will meet you there. If you prefer, the driver can also collect you from the Tower and skip the boat.

  • Collection at arrival pier — Driver meets you near the agreed pier and returns you to your address.

  • Tower of London summer hours (1 March-31 October): Tuesday-Saturday 09:00-17:30, Sunday-Monday 10:00-17:30. Winter hours (1 November-end February) close at 16:30. Last entry is earlier; check the HRP opening times page.
  • The Jewel House can have long queues at busy times; arriving at opening helps.
  • River services can be suspended in high winds, fog or for river events; check the operator on the day.
  • Tower Hill is a red route with limited stopping; drop-off is at the nearest legal point.

Accessibility and walking

The Tower of London has cobbles, slopes and many steps, including in the White Tower; Historic Royal Palaces publishes access information. City Cruises and Uber Boat vessels have step-free boarding at most piers; Uber Boat notes that Cadogan, London Bridge City and Wandsworth Riverside Quarter piers lack step-free access. Check with each operator. Walking level: moderate.

MisterFare drives your party from your London address to the Tower of London and sets you down nearby. You visit the Tower with tickets bought from Historic Royal Palaces, then walk to Tower Millennium Pier and take a river boat bought directly from the boat operator (City Cruises sightseeing boats or Uber Boat by Thames Clippers). The driver collects you at the agreed arrival pier, for example Westminster or Greenwich, and takes you back to your address. MisterFare does not sell or reserve Tower or boat tickets and does not provide a guide.
Cancellations and changes
  • More than 24 hours before pickup: free cancellation.
  • Less than 24 hours before pickup, or no-show: a charge of up to 50% of the price.
